“CM” guiding system

Segmented Plastic Bushings

This is the traditional guide, nowadays considered obsolete because can mark surface. Actually the light weight of beads can rotate fast so you can achieve higher output and definitely the system is economical. So this system has reasons for consideration. We can install beads on the usual curved rod but we think much better to use 2 strait rods on “V” mounting. This way you double guiding points and beads rotate freely because there is no side friction and no risk of pinching bubble.

Materials:

Nylon: type approved for food handling.

Teflon / PTFE: approved for food handling.

Cylinders

The continuous flow of new polymers is making extrusion increasingly complex. In addition multicolor printing requires perfect surfaces. This had led to a new approach on bubble guiding. Presently the best system is a guide using insulated cylinders to avoid thermal variations and consequent gauge problems.

Materials:

Carbon Fiber (CFK)

The material is light and turns well. You can achieve extrusion speed equivalent to segmented bushings. Can be coated for better grip, for food compliance, or CFP special plasma coating for tacky films. CFK can have surface treated to be food compliance.

Silicon

It is an excellent material. Low friction, does not stick and quite lasting. We use tubes of foam silicon as our standard, does not heat and no deposits. Foam is not food compliant, so for food packaging we use standard silicon tubes.

Felt (wool fabric)

It is excellent for thermal properties. Unfortunately the fabric will trap deposits and therefore needs frequent washing or dirt build-up will damage film surface. Such heavy maintenance makes this solution problematic.

The “CM” series has a mechanical structure independent from the guides. Guides are set in modules equipped with a variety of guides.

Segmented Plastic Bushings:

“V” = standard mounting with 2 strait rods

“K” = curved rod shape / on request

Cylinders:

Suitable to handle delicate materials. To easy air flow, cylinders should be “small” in diameter. We offer several sizes for your choice. Standard mounting with single cylinders, on very big sizes it will be on “V” mounting for a better bubble hold.

“LS” guiding system

The “LS” series has the mechanical structure built based on arms and levels. This system does not allow a real modularity, however is possible to replace each guide. The mechanical pitch is set to accept any guiding method.

Gap and risk of pinching

The best guide does not exist but you need knowledge for selecting the best solution.

The Bmec bubble cages are designed from the beginning around the guiding system.

All models can modify the guides, also after years of use.

(Note: “Low-cost” series does not have this feature).
